Welcome to The Writer’s Bloc: Community and Creativity, Writing on the Wall’s new online writing centre – a virtual centre dedicated to writing in all its forms across the Liverpool City Region.
To celebrate the launch of The Writer’s Bloc we're introducing our first ‘Writer on the Bloc’, announcing three new projects, previewing an anthology celebrating the music of Windrush and launched a design commission for a logo for The Writer’s Bloc.
The Writer’s Bloc is a digital space responding to the mental health and social emergency arising out of Covid-19. The Bloc will help people to share stories and experiences during this pandemic, develop new writing skills, reduce social isolation and support the arts industry across the Liverpool City region. Combining social engagement with activism and literature the Writer’s Bloc is a unique online writing centre that looks to find new ways to connect people now, to be followed by a live, physical Writer’s Bloc in the future.
We are proud and delighted to announce that our first Writer on the Bloc, was novelist and lecturer, Yvonne Battle-Felton. Yvonne began a three-week residency on Monday 22nd June, followed by poet and publisher Anthony Anaxagorou.
