Volunteer for and become a part of Writing on the Wall’s team in delivering inspirational festival events and projects. Volunteers are invaluable in helping us to continue delivering the high quality creative cultural and artistic events that engage communities across the region. You can bring your skills to our work, will gain experience in organising and helping out at events – set up, ticketing, staffing, etc., and meet new people, gain confidence, develop employment prospects, take part in debates and discussions, have fun, and make a real difference. You will gain skills in: promotion through social media and flyering, marketing, office administrative work, handling cash, stewarding and more!
Andrew Kearns, who volunteered on our Write to Work project, says, ‘The course was a great experience. Working alongside the Project Manager and assistants, learning new skills from them, meeting some outstanding writers, and making new like-minded friends; it was an excellent opportunity for personal development while also advancing interpersonal skills. The commitment and effort involved was far outweighed by witnessing the success of the course, not only in its planning and execution but also in the progress of the attendees, each overcoming their own obstacles to accomplish some excellent work. Looking back, I feel a sense of achievement and pride for contributing to the work of WoW, while at the same time improving my chances of returning to the world of work.’
